Last night’s latest news: I was up with Baby E. in the wee sma’s. Usually, I pass the time by watching midnight movies in installments (more on that in a future post). But last night, or early this morning rather, E. was fussy, so I was walking with him. I noticed movement outside and saw a suspicious looking character walking up the street.
He popped into the front seat of my neighbor’s car, mucked around a bit, and then tried the door of the next car in the driveway. For the first time ever, I called 911 and filed a report. A police officer showed up shortly thereafter and took my statement (sounds so official!). Then, if you can believe it, three cop cars zoom by. I guess it must have been a slow night for Columbia’s finest.
After a few minutes, they caught the suspect, and I took a ride up to identify him. He apparantly had a record already and had some suspicious goods on his person. Having done my civic duty, I went to bed and promptly had a dream where the suspect returned and took revenge on me for reporting him. Too many mystery movies, methinks.
At any rate, when Baby E. gets older, he can be pleased that he helped keep the streets safer for all of us.
